Course Q300 – Fighting in Someone's House (FISH) is a two-day (16 hour) course of intermediate instruction that focuses on fighting tactics inside an urban landscape. Whether called upon to defend yourself inside your own home or clearing an unknown dwelling as required by your profession, this course is perfectly suited for students from all walks of life. Combining pistol and carbine techniques, with emphasis on how they are each employed together, the course teaches tactics and techniques employed indoors. This is a fighting class that delivers extreme marksmanship and advanced urban tactics.
Students in this course participate in guided instruction, practical exercises, as well as live-fire examinations; all while wearing load-bearing equipment. Tactics and techniques covered include safe employment, fighting stance, shooting from cover, shooting while moving, room clearing, communication, sidearm transitions, tactical reloading, and marksmanship at intermediate distances. The end-state of the course for the student is functional proficiency with both the carbine and pistol in an urbanized environment.
Novice shooters will benefit from guided instruction by seasoned professionals while experienced shooters will benefit equally from the reinforcement of fundamentals and the structured format of live-fire practice drills. Through the duration of its two-day format, the course begins with manipulation and handling drills that progressively add speed, distance, and complexity. The pace of the course is timed for proficiency of urban tactics and decision making. At the end of the course, students will shoot, move, and communicate more quickly and with more accuracy than many believe possible.
